Length 11’8”, Beam @ gunwale 28”, Beam @ 4” waterline 27.75”, Approx weight 45lbs, Rocker 4.5”
The Mohawk Probe 11 is our shortest
version of the Probe series. It has all of the
characteristics of the longer Probes, like lots of flare in
the sides for great secondary stability, rounded chines for
easy side surfing, PLUS high volume ends. Smaller paddlers
like the Mohawk Probe 11's light-weight. While larger paddlers will find
the Mohawk Probe 11 takes
more skill to paddle, but they like the Mohawk Probe 11's added responsiveness, small-size and added challenge.

Formerly
the Probe 12II, the Mohawk
Probe 12 shares all of the features of
the Mohawk Probe 13, but in a more performance-oriented
package. The Mohawk Probe 12 is 6" shorter overall and narrower at the
4" waterline and an inch narrower at the gunwale. Some
stability is sacrificed with the Mohawk Probe 12 compared to the
Mohawk Probe 13, but the increase in performance is noticeable, The Mohawk
Probe 12 still has great
secondary stability, due to the flared center-section.

Length 12’8”, Beam @ gunwale 28.5”, Beam @ 4” waterline 28”, Approx weight 49lbs, Rocker 5"
Of the three solo Mohawk Probes, the Mohawk Probe 13 is the most popular. The Mohawk
13 is the boat that most entry level
paddlers can start out with, and never grow out
of. The Mohawk Probe 13's 28"
beam at the 4" waterline makes it quick to accelerate off
the line. The
flair at the center section gives the Mohawk Probe 13, a tremendous amount of
secondary stability that loyal, Mohawk Probe paddlers love. The Mohawk Probe 13, like other Mohawk Probes, has a symmetrical rocker. This feature
makes ferrying, eddy turns and peel outs in the Mohawk
Probe 13 very predictable. Combine the symmetrical
rocker with the flared sides, and the Mohawk Probe 13 provides confidence while
leaning the canoe.

Length 14’, Beam @ gunwale 31”, Beam @ 4” waterline 29”, Approx weight 59lbs, Rocker 6”
Mohawk's tandem/solo playboat has all of the hot performance features of the Mohawk
Probe 13 in a larger boat. The Mohawk 14 is THE canoe for those tandem paddlers
looking for extra performance. The Mohawk Probe 14 can be factory-outfitted in a three-position, two-position or
solo
configuration. The Mohawk Probe 14 is an excellent choice for larger paddlers, or
those who prefer a longer canoe. As a solo boat, the Mohawk
Probe 14 is so quick
and easy to spin, you would think you're in a much shorter
boat.

Length 11’6”, Beam @ gunwale 27”, Beam @ 4” waterline 27.25”, Approx weight 45lbs, Rocker 4.5”
Though
less stable than the Mohawk Viper 12 due to its shorter length,
the Mohawk Viper 11 is
a little less edgy. The Mohawk Viper 11 canoe has a reputation for being an upper-intermediate to expert-only type canoe. The Mohawk
Viper 11 has won
and placed in many whitewater Rodeos. The Mohawk
Viper 11's light weight, speed
and maneuverability make it a popular steep creek boat.

The Mohawk Viper 12 has excellent primary stability, and good
secondary stability. However, the Mohawk Viper 12's edge (a sharper, less
curve to the chine) can catch cross currents and eddies, and
flip the paddler who has not mastered the edge. The Mohawk
Viper 12 is a favorite of many paddlers that compete in the Royalex
slalom race class. Its popularity, and many wins is a
testimonial to the Mohawk Viper 12's precise handling. Few
canoes besides the Mohawk Viper 12 have such a
distinct edge. Since the Mohawk Viper 12's paddling characteristics are
so different, our advice is to paddle a boat with an edge
before you buy.

Introducing the Mohawk SHAMAN 12 in Royalex .
The Mohawk Shaman is a 12'7" whitewater solo playboat that successfully combines
slalom-like maneuverability with outstanding forward speed and
glide. A blend of subtle design features distinguish the Mohawk
SHAMAN 12 from other boats in its class.
The Mohawk SHAMAN is the canoe that gives the technical playboater an
advantage in making aggressive attainments and linking
challenging moves. The Mohawk SHAMAN is quick to turn without any
overspin, and accelerates easily on demand. Directional
stability is excellent. The Mohawk Shaman possesses a smooth, predictable personality
that minimizes defensive braces. Mohawk Shaman's asymmetrical rocker and
waterline with dynamic trim sensitivity lets you fine tune the
canoe's reaction to currents and paddle strokes. Stern leans
release the bow to maximize the spin characteristics in the Mohawk
Shaman. Gentle
knee pressure can initiate carved turns or set the hull to
block waves.
In the Mohawk Shaman generous flare from bow to stern provides remarkable final
stability which appeals to whitewater paddlers of all skill
levels. Cruisers like the Mohawk SHAMAN'S responsive, yet forgiving
feel. The slender hull width is comfortable to paddle and
promotes good stroke mechanics. We believe you'll appreciate
the great styling too.
The Mohawk SHAMAN 12 allows you the freedom to paddle precisely,
and with confidence and finesse. The Mohawk SHAMAN is a superb choice for
open boaters who want to develop and exercise efficient
technique. The Mohawk SHAMAN excels in catching those elusive surfing
waves. Paddlers also comment on how easy the Mohawk SHAMAN is to roll.
Harold Deal is known for his adeptness in several canoe
disciplines. His focus on precise boat control has led to many
first place finishes at the Whitewater Open Canoe Nationals in
the slalom events and in the Combined Slalom / Downriver
Class. The Shaman's Concepts and shape developed from years of
experience in the sport, and the designer's commitment to
build a predictable playboat with the optimum overall
performance that has made it successful in placing at the top
of its class. |
